If you want to retrofit your e-scooter with indicators, the right design, mounting method, and power supply are essential. Direction indicators help other road users recognize your intention to turn. Controls on the handlebar allow you to operate the indicator while keeping both hands on the bars.
At Fadu Bike, you will find indicators and lighting components for e-scooters. Before purchasing, check whether the selected product is suitable for your model and the intended installation. If you wish, you can also request installation at our workshop in Vienna.
A retrofit system supplements an e-scooter that does not yet have suitable indicators. A model-specific spare part, on the other hand, is intended for replacing an existing component. Individual indicator lights do not, therefore, automatically constitute a complete retrofit kit.
Pay attention to the scope of delivery: Are the required lights, the control unit, and the mounting hardware included? Also, check whether the product is intended for the left or right side and which other components are required for operation.
For e-scooters under the Austrian Road Traffic Act, flashing lights at the ends of the handlebar grips are mandatory. These must emit yellow light to the front and rear and have a flash frequency of 90 ± 30 pulses per minute.
A taillight with an integrated indicator function does not replace this requirement for the handlebar ends. The characteristics of the specific product and its correct installation are decisive. Therefore, check before purchase whether the intended solution meets the requirements for your e-scooter.
Whether an indicator fits your e-scooter cannot be determined by the brand alone. Even within a brand, handlebars, grip mounts, and electrical connections can differ.
The following points are particularly relevant for selection:
If you are unsure, have the model designation as well as photos of the handlebars and existing connections ready for your inquiry.
The power supply depends on the respective indicator system. With suitable integration into the e-scooter’s electrical system, separate charging of the indicator lights may be eliminated. The prerequisite is that the operating voltage, connections, and control unit are compatible.
A wired indicator must not automatically be connected directly to the main battery. The permitted supply depends on the product and manufacturer specifications. For systems with their own power supply, the respective instructions regarding charging or battery replacement must be observed.
Depending on the product, the retrofit involves mounting on the handlebars, installing the controls, and possibly electrical work. Simple mechanical mounting therefore does not mean that the electrical connection is possible without technical expertise.
Fadu Bike offers support with selection and installation upon request. Contact our workshop in Vienna with your model designation so that the appropriate solution and the necessary installation effort can be clarified.
No. The specific model, mounting method, and, if applicable, the electrical connections are decisive. Please note the specifications of the selected product.
That depends on the power supply. With a suitable supply via the scooter system, separate charging may not be necessary. Other systems require their own power supply.
Suitability for rain and splash water depends on the product. Check the specified protection rating and usage instructions; a weatherproof design does not automatically mean that the product is waterproof.
That depends on the design and your technical knowledge. Follow the installation instructions. For electrical connections or unclear compatibility, professional inspection is recommended.
Yes. Contact our workshop in Vienna with the model designation of your e-scooter to clarify selection and installation.
