Safe braking starts with the right choice. Discover our high-quality bicycle brake pads from top brands for maximum deceleration and control on any terrain. Whether for your e-bike, mountain bike, or city bike – find the right pads in our range now and order conveniently online!
Choosing the right bicycle brake pads is crucial for your safety and an optimal riding experience. In principle, a distinction is made between pads for disc brakes and rim brakes.
For a precise selection, you should consider these points:
Braking system: Do you use disc or rim brakes?
Brake manufacturer & model: Are you looking for specific [buy Shimano brake pads], for example? Compare the exact model number of your brake.
Riding style & terrain: Mountain bikers have different requirements than commuters on e-bikes.
Compatibility with brake rotors: Not every pad can be used with every rotor. Pay attention to the manufacturer's approval in our [bicycle brake rotors] category.
The material compound of the bicycle brake pads significantly determines braking performance, wear, and noise levels. For disc brakes, you usually have a choice between two types:
Organic brake pads (resin):
Pros: Very quiet (less squealing), good modulation, snappy response even when cold.
Cons: Higher wear in wet and muddy conditions, lower heat resistance on extreme and long descents.
Recommended for: Everyday riders, touring, cross-country, and lighter riders.
Sintered metal brake pads (metallic):
Pros: Extremely heat-resistant (no fading), high braking power at high temperatures, very durable, and less wear in wet/muddy conditions.
Cons: More prone to noise, require a certain operating temperature for optimal performance, can be harder on the brake rotor.
Recommended for: Downhill, enduro, e-bikes, heavier riders, and frequent riders in bad weather.
For your new disc brake pads or rim brake pads to function perfectly, absolute precision is required.
Check these criteria before purchasing:
Backing plate shape: The shape must match the brake caliper exactly.
Attachment: Pay attention to the type of fixation (split pin or screw).
Original parts vs. third-party manufacturers: We offer both original bicycle brake spare parts (e.g., from Shimano or SRAM) and high-quality alternatives from well-known third-party manufacturers.
Accessories: Also remember to get the right [bicycle tools] to carry out the change smoothly.

Wear depends heavily on your riding style, system weight, weather conditions, and pad type. As a rule of thumb: if the pad thickness (the actual braking material on the backing plate) is less than 1 millimeter, the pads must be replaced. Check the condition regularly, ideally every few hundred kilometers or before major tours.
New squealing can have several causes. Most of the time, the pads first need to be correctly bedded in to adjust the surface and degas. To do this, perform about 20-30 strong braking maneuvers from medium speed without coming to a complete stop. Other reasons could be an unclean (oily) brake rotor, an improperly aligned brake, or the general tendency of sintered pads to produce noise. Always clean the rotor thoroughly before installing new pads.
