e-scooter controller

E-Scooter controller as a replacement and original part for Xiaomi, Ninebot Segway, KuKirin, and RCB: 16 control units from 36 V to 52 V, starting at € 49.95. The controller regulates current, voltage, and motor power; it is the central electronic unit of your scooter.

The decisive factor is not just the model name, but the voltage, power, and pin assignment. Read what you need to look out for below the product range.

Finding the right controller

Three details must match before you order:

  • Voltage: 36 V, 48 V, or 52 V. The value is printed on the old controller and must match the battery voltage. A 36 V controller connected to a 48 V battery will be destroyed.
  • Power and current: approx. 350 W, 450 W, or 800 W, or 25 A respectively. Lower power than the original will slow down the drive, while higher power puts stress on the motor and battery.
  • Connector and display type: Motor phases, Hall sensor, and display cable must match the existing wiring. For Xiaomi, the circuit board version, such as V3 or DRV224, is also a deciding factor.

Identical model years often differ. Therefore, check the label on the removed controller, not just the model name. If in doubt, take a photo of the circuit board and connectors; our team in Vienna will compare them with the product range.

How to identify a defective controller

  • The scooter turns on, but the motor does not start, even though the throttle and brake lever are working properly.
  • The display shows an error code for the controller or motor phase.
  • The drive cuts out under load or jerks during steady riding.
  • The scooter no longer responds to the throttle, even though the battery is charged and supplying voltage.

A similar error pattern can be caused by the battery, motor, or a damaged data cable. It is therefore worth performing a test before purchasing. In our workshop at Weyringergasse 37, 1040 Vienna, we can test the electronics and perform the installation. You can order online and pick up for free in Vienna; we are open Mon–Fri 10:00–19:00 and Sat 10:00–14:00, or call us at +43 1 50 50 686.

All parts come with a 2-year warranty and 30-day return policy. We deliver free of charge within Vienna, and shipping throughout Austria is subject to additional shipping costs.

Legal notice regarding power and speed

In Austria, e-scooters in public traffic must not exceed a design speed of 25 km/h and a motor power of 600 W. Controllers with higher power or without a speed limit are intended for use on private property and for vehicles outside these limits. Anyone using such a controller to increase the factory setting of an approved scooter is no longer operating the vehicle in accordance with regulations on public roads.

Frequently asked questions about e-scooter controllers

How do I know which controller fits my e-scooter?

Remove the old controller and read the voltage, current, and type designation from the circuit board. These values count more than the model name, as manufacturers use different versions within the same series.

Can I install a more powerful controller?

Technically, this is often possible if the voltage and pin assignment are correct, but the motor and battery must be able to withstand the higher current. Legally, 25 km/h and 600 W are the upper limits for public traffic in Austria.

How much does an e-scooter controller cost?

At Fadu Bike, controllers range from € 49.95 to € 149.00, depending on the model, voltage, and whether it is an original or replacement part.

Can I replace the controller myself?

If you have experience with electrical connectors, the replacement is manageable; the critical aspects are the correct assignment of motor phases and the waterproof routing of the cables. Incorrectly connected phases can damage the new controller immediately. When in doubt, our workshop in Vienna can handle the installation.
