E-Scooter brakes

82 products

E-scooter brakes and brake spare parts for Xiaomi, Ninebot Segway, Navee, KuKirin, Dualtron, SmartGyro, Cecotec, and NIU: brake pads, brake discs, brake calipers, brake levers, and brake cables. Brake cables from € 8.90, brake pads and brake discs from € 14.95.

The deciding factor is not the model name, but the measurements of the removed part. You can find instructions on how to measure them below the product range.

How to find the right brake part for your e-scooter

Brake parts are dimension-dependent, not brand-dependent. Identically constructed calipers, discs, and pads are sold under different names by various manufacturers. Therefore, measure your old part before you place your order.

Brake disc: Determining diameter and hole pattern

Two values are decisive: the outer diameter in millimeters and the hole pattern, i.e., 5-hole or 6-hole. Measure both on the removed disc using a ruler. The disc thickness is usually printed on the disc itself.

Diameter Hole pattern Typical models
110 mm 5-hole Xiaomi Essential, Xiaomi 1S
120 mm 5-hole Xiaomi M365, Essential, 1S, Pro 2
120 mm 6-hole Cecotec Outsider, Bongo Series A
130 mm 5-hole Xiaomi Mi 4 Pro
140 mm 5-hole Xiaomi Mi 4
140 mm 6-hole KuKirin G2 Pro
160 / 180 mm 6-hole universal, also in reinforced version with 2.9 mm thickness

You can find all diameters and hole patterns in detail under E-scooter brake discs by diameter.

Brake pads: Pad shape and material

Pads are categorized by shape codes, such as CT003, RT004, or RS001. These codes describe the outline, retaining pin, and backplate. Compare the outline of your old pad with the product image; this is more reliable than searching by model.

Regarding material, there is a real trade-off:

  • Resin: engages well when cold, operates more quietly, but reaches the end of its service life sooner on long descents and in wet conditions.
  • Sintered: more durable in heat and rain, but louder and more aggressive towards the brake disc.

For city use, resin is usually sufficient. Those carrying heavy loads or riding frequently on downhill sections are better served by sintered pads. The complete pad assortment can be found under Brake pads for e-scooters.

Brake levers and brake cables: Check plugs and cable length

Brake levers with a Hall sensor interrupt the motor current when pulled. The connector type is crucial; JST ZH is common. A lever without a matching connector cannot be connected properly.

For brake cables, the length including the housing counts. Our assortment includes, among others, 1.45 m for the drum brake of the Xiaomi Mi4 Ultra, 1.75 m universal, and 1.90 m for the Dualtron Mini rear. Measure the old cable while removed, not while attached to the scooter. You can find suitable levers under E-scooter brake levers with sensor.

When brake pads and brake discs need replacing

Mileage figures are of little help because weight, route profile, and weather determine wear more than distance. Rely on the condition:

  • The friction material is thinner than the backplate it sits on. Replace at the latest by this point.
  • A metallic scratching sound is heard when braking. This is usually the bare backplate on the disc; in this case, the disc is often already damaged.
  • The brake disc has noticeable grooves or is below the embossed minimum thickness.
  • The lever can be pulled all the way to the handle despite the cable being adjusted. In hydraulic systems, this indicates air in the system.
  • The disc is visibly wobbling, a sign of warping after a fall or overheating.

Replace yourself or visit our workshop in Vienna

Pads and discs on mechanical disc brakes can be easily replaced by yourself with a hex key and some patience for centering. Hydraulic systems are a borderline case: without a bleeding kit and suitable brake fluid, the replacement becomes a troubleshooting challenge.

Our workshop at Weyringergasse 37, 1040 Vienna performs pad and disc replacements, cable adjustment, and bleeding of hydraulic systems. Order online and pick up the part for free in Vienna, or bring the scooter along with you. Open Mon–Fri 10:00–19:00 and Sat 10:00–14:00, or by phone at +43 1 50 50 686.

All parts come with a 2-year warranty and 30-day return policy. We deliver free within Vienna; shipping throughout Austria is subject to shipping costs.

Frequently asked questions about e-scooter brakes

How do I know which brake disc fits my e-scooter?

Remove the old disc and measure the outer diameter. Then count the mounting holes; five or six are common. With these two values and the table above, you will make the right choice even if your model is not listed by name.

Resin or sintered brake pads, which is better?

That depends on your riding profile. Resin pads are quieter and respond faster when cold; they are suitable for short city trips. Sintered pads withstand heat and moisture better and are the more stable choice for heavy loads or frequent downhill sections.

Can I replace brake pads myself?

For mechanical disc brakes, yes; you will need hex keys and time to align the caliper. For hydraulic brakes, we recommend the workshop because they usually need to be bled after replacement.

Does a brake lever from another model fit?

Only if the connector type and sensor type match. The JST-ZH connector in combination with a Hall sensor is common. Additionally, check the handlebar diameter and whether the lever is designed for the left or right side.

Does the brake disc need to be replaced along with the pads?

Not necessarily. If the disc is smooth, without grooves, and above the minimum thickness, new pads are sufficient. If it shows grooves or blue discoloration due to overheating, replace both together; otherwise, the new pad will immediately wear down unevenly.

Why does the brake squeak after changing the pads?

New pads need a few braking sessions to bed in. If the noise persists, the caliper is usually misaligned, or the disc is contaminated with oil. Never touch braking surfaces with bare fingers and clean the disc with brake cleaner.
